About the Foundation

As a lasting memory to his life and in support of the charities that he championed, his parents, Mary and Mike Rizzo, established the Jonathan Rizzo Memorial Foundation in 2001.

The Foundation is unique in its support for a gamut of worthy causes. In lieu of raising money to fund a specific cause, it targets the giving where it is needed most and can do the most good at any given point in time. Your generosity has funded everything from heat in the winter for a cancer stricken mother of 2, BC High education for teenagers of a family that lost their Father, to a new soccer field for kids in Kingston and most recently for refugee children in Rwanda, Africa! The Foundation also provides support for charities that were important to Jonathan, including Christmas in the City and the Sleeping Children Across the World Foundation.

Through the Foundation, Jonathan's spirit continues on, doing the kind of things he did during his all too short 19 years and reminding all of us that it is not how long we are here that counts but what we do while we’re here. As Margaret Mead once said, “never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

We thank you for allowing us to keep Jonathan's spirit of giving alive.
